    Overview

    The Belleville Henderson School District was issued an allocation of $378,728 by the state of New York after residents voted affirmatively in November 2014 to allow the state to borrow up to two billion dollars to help schools create 21st Century learning centers with state of the art technology opportunities for students.

    Preconditions

    The district submitted the 2015-18 Instructional Technology plan survey via portal to the NYS Education Department that was approved January 22, 2016. The District’s technology committee has had monthly to discuss options for allocating our Smart School Bond act award from New York State. There were two clear needs that were identified to be addressed through the use of these funds. These were in the categories of School Connectivity and Classroom Technology.

    The funds allocated in the school connectivity category will provide both additional and upgraded wireless access points though out the District to provide both wireless coverage in the building and sufficient wireless bandwidth capacity per access points in classrooms to allow for large-scale use and improve overall network and systems reliability. This will include Wireless access points, servers, cable plant, new data rack equipment and network equipment.

    The funds allocated in the school Classroom Technology will be used to enhance classroom technology  by the acquisition of learning technology equipment including but not limited to tablets, chrome books, laptops  and other devises.

    We will work closely with teachers and students to gather feedback on what technology best meets the needs and help students work towards their academic goals.
